Impeached Rigathi Gachagua Hints at 2027 Alliance with Kalonzo Musyoka

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dropped a major political bombshell, hinting at a potential alliance with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Gachagua praised Kalonzo as a steadfast ally of the Mt. Kenya region during tough times, vowing to repay the “debt” owed to him since his support for the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Rigathi Gachagua Signals Kalonzo Alliance

Rigathi Gachagua, speaking during a visit to Mbooni in Makueni County, declared that Mt. Kenya owes Kalonzo for his loyalty and that 2027 is the right time for payback. He pointed to Kalonzo’s tenure as Kibaki’s vice president and his continued allegiance to Mt. Kenya during political storms.

“Nyinyi mlikuja mkatushikilia wakati tulikuwa tunafukuzwa. Sisi watu wa Mlima Kenya hatujui kusahau,” Gachagua stated, promising joint efforts in the next election.

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba echoed Gachagua’s sentiments, urging the Kamba community to embrace the alliance. “Ni vibaya tukisukuma mmoja wenu aingie State House?” she asked rhetorically.

Criticism of Ruto and the Government

Gachagua also criticized President William Ruto’s administration over controversial policies. He condemned the government’s livestock vaccination plan as forced and tone-deaf, asserting, “Ng’ombe ni yao. Kwa nini mnashinikiza badala ya kusikiliza wananchi?”

Additionally, Gachagua slammed Ruto for persecuting Nyandarua politicians following public dissent during the president’s Jamhuri Day speech. “Sasa unataka kushika kila mtu? Badala ya kutatua shida za wananchi?” he said.

A Political Debt or Calculated Move?

Gachagua’s statements signal a calculated shift to consolidate political power ahead of 2027. While he has not explicitly declared his own ambitions, his endorsement of Kalonzo suggests a broader strategy to influence Kenya’s political future.

Will this alliance hold, or is it just another political gimmick? The stakes are high, and all eyes are on 2027.

Is Kalonzo Musyoka Torn Between Gachagua and Uhuru Kenyatta?

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka faces a political crossroads. On one hand, impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has extended an olive branch, urging Kalonzo to align with him and the Mt. Kenya region in 2027.

On the other, former President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be positioning himself as Kalonzo’s more stable ally, casting doubts on Gachagua’s overtures.

Gachagua’s Weak Pitch

Gachagua, barred from running for office until October 2034 due to impeachment, leaves Kalonzo with a shaky proposition.

Despite his fiery promises to rally Mt. Kenya behind Kalonzo, Gachagua’s political clout is dwindling.

Reports even suggest he was snubbed from Kalonzo’s family wedding, where ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta made a prominent appearance.

This apparent cold shoulder highlights Kalonzo’s dilemma. Can he afford to align with Gachagua, a leader battling both political and personal setbacks, or should he look to Uhuru, who retains influence in the region despite his waning public presence?

Uhuru’s Strategic Moves to Neutralize Rigathi Gachagua

Uhuru Kenyatta, Gachagua’s friend-turned-foe, is not staying idle. The former president appears to be warming up to President William Ruto, despite their previous clashes.

Insiders suggest Uhuru is paving the way for his younger brother, Muhoho Kenyatta, to step into the political limelight.

By aligning with Ruto, Uhuru seeks to safeguard the Kenyatta family’s legacy and maintain their grip on Mt. Kenya’s political landscape.

This strategic shift puts Kalonzo in a precarious position—does he align with a resurgent Uhuru or risk partnering with the impeached and embattled Gachagua?

A King Without a Throne

As the battle for Mt. Kenya kingship intensifies, Kalonzo’s choice could make or break his 2027 ambitions. Gachagua offers loyalty but little political guarantee. Uhuru, though unpredictable, could bring both resources and credibility to Kalonzo’s camp.

The question remains: will Kalonzo gamble on Gachagua’s shaky promises or ride the wave of Uhuru’s calculated resurgence? The political chessboard is set, and the next moves will determine Kalonzo’s fate.
