2025 Academic Calendar for Kenyan Schools

The Ministry of Education has officially released the 2025 academic calendar for Kenyan schools.

This schedule outlines the opening, closing, and examination dates for the year, ensuring a structured learning environment for students across the country.

First Term

The first term will start on January 6, 2025, and run for 13 weeks, ending on April 4, 2025.

Students will have a five-day half-term break from February 26 to March 2, 2025.

After completing the term, learners will proceed on holiday from April 7 to April 25, 2025.

Second Term

The second term is set to commence on April 28, 2025, lasting for 14 weeks.

During this period, students will enjoy a half-term break between June 25 and June 29, 2025.

The term will end on August 1, 2025, and a three-week holiday will follow, from August 4 to August 22, 2025.

Third Term

The third term, the shortest of the academic year, will begin on August 25, 2025, and run for nine weeks.

Schools will close for the long holidays starting on October 24, 2025.

This term prepares students for national examinations scheduled in late October and November.

National Examination Dates

The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) will both take place from October 27 to October 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will run from November 3 to November 21, 2025.
