Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), has firmly denied rumors claiming he was suspended from his position.

The false claims were sparked by a fabricated notice circulating on social media, which falsely stated that Mutua had been removed from office due to ongoing legal issues.

The fake notice, which spread quickly online, included a statement that Mutua had been suspended and was no longer authorized to conduct business on behalf of MCSK.

Mutua Addresses the Allegations

Mutua wasted no time addressing the rumors, calling them “gossip” and “story za jaba” (baseless stories). He expressed his disbelief at the spread of such false claims.

“Kenya loves mucene (gossip) and story za jaba! I had one of my busiest weekends, working to serve the nation and support artists, and didn’t have time to respond to this nonsense. It was shocking to learn that while I was busy with my duties, someone was spreading false reports about my dismissal,” Mutua wrote.

He further clarified that despite the rumors, he is still in his position as CEO and has not been dismissed or suspended.

Mutua mentioned receiving numerous calls from concerned Kenyans who mistakenly believed the fake news.

Setting the Record Straight

Mutua emphasized that he remains in office and has not been removed from his role.

He highlighted that the Chairman of the MCSK Board had already issued a statement confirming that the rumors were false.

“I am still in office, and I have neither been sacked nor suspended. I encourage anyone doubting this to come to the MCSK office and verify for themselves. These rumors are false, and it’s important to rely on verified information,” he stated.

Ezekiel Mutua on Constructive Criticism

While addressing the false suspension claims, Mutua reaffirmed his commitment to his role and his work with MCSK.

He emphasized the importance of constructive criticism and dialogue but stressed that such discussions should be based on facts and evidence.

As the leader of MCSK, Mutua continues to focus on supporting Kenya’s music industry, protecting artists’ rights, and promoting transparency within the organization.

Mutua on the Controversial Mapangale Dance

In a separate issue, Mutua recently spoke out against the Mapangale dance, which has been gaining popularity on social media.

He raised concerns about its violent nature, saying that the dance glorifies harmful behavior.

The Interior Ministry has flagged the dance for its portrayal of dangerous actions.

Mutua urged Kenyans to reconsider promoting the trend while investigations into its legality are ongoing.
